Northern New Mexico has a dearth of training and learning opportunities for reporters, writers and critics. We provide hands-on training to student and citizen journalists with a reporting lab, field work and publishing opportunities. The Association of Alternative Newsmedia named the 2021 student project third place in the “Nonprofit Collaboration” category in its annual journalism awards in 2022, with the judge calling it “a strong local collaboration that benefited both the students who contributed and the local newsroom. This is an excellent example of journalists thinking about their role in their communities and how to engage in new ways.”
