Peer-to-peer crowdfunding campaigns are a great way to reach new donors. With just a little planning in the campaign set-up, you can enable your most ardent supporters to share your fundraising mission with their community of friends and associates, expanding your reach exponentially. Fortunately, FundRazr makes it easy.
To get started with your P2P campaign on FundRazr, create a new campaign and choose Peer-2-Peer Registration or the advanced layout, then follow these instructions.
Follow the campaign template for the first three paragraphs – what we do, what we’ve done and how funds will be used.
Then it’s our call to action – how your supporters can help.
Participating in a P2P might be new to them. Be mindful of that by being as clear and concise as possible.
Here is some template language to add so your supporters can choose the action that’s right for them:
How to support [ campaign name ]
- Contribute to the campaign by clicking the “donate” button
- Participate in the campaign by clicking the “register” button
- register as an individual,
- join a team, or
- create your own team
Supporters who simply want to make a gift can do so, but those who click to “register” will then see the following screen to choose next steps:
Once an option is chosen, supporters are asked to write a short testimonial for why your publication matters to them, and to set a fundraising goal for their network.
Once these steps are completed the ANF team approves the entry and it’s good to go. Supporters can share the campaign via email, social media and word of mouth – let the fundraising happen!
A few more items to consider in your campaign story:
- If you’re hosting a campaign event, be sure everyone knows the details.
- Are you offering merch or incentives for participants? If so, let everyone know.
- Have corporate sponsors? Be sure to add logos.
As the fundraising lead, you can connect with your P2P supporters, offering gratitude, promotion advice, and an occasional nudge for more promotion. The more you support each person in this endeavor, the more likely the crowdfunding will be successful.
Who should you ask to participate?
- Send a personal invitation to all current donors and volunteers. Be honest and open about needing their help!
- Contact professional colleagues, friends and family individually. Highlight your gratitude for their time and effort!
- Post the campaign on your website and social media letting readers know that P2P is an option. Make it fun for them! Set up a challenge and give gifts for the top fundraisers.
Above all, when the campaigns conclude, be sure to thank everyone who helped, publicly if possible! These folks will have increased their emotional connection to your work, and may become even greater supporters.
